Jomel Gregorio is a self-taught artist and Professional Photographer. His painting style was influenced by impressionism and modernism. His works are described as visually entertaining and mentally challenging, like being a bridge between the unfathomable and the viewer’s unique imagination. The abstract representation of his works makes a personal connection by unconsciously harnessing the viewer’s innate power of imagination.

Gregorio a graduate of Philosophy and Mass Communication and earned a Master’s Degree in International Business. He is also a Part-Time Professional Photography Instructor at De La Salle -College of St. Benilde’s School of Design and Arts (2006 to date). All these separate pursuits growing as an artist while passionately doing research and studying to further establish his body of work.

My work is underpinned by a contemplative connection to the mystic beauty of nature and the unfathomable universe. The amazing places I’ve been to, and all my struggles and experiences constantly reinvent me as an artist. I create works that have resonance with our shared core humanity, nostalgia, sentiments, and the influence of nature in our well-being.

I always strive for simplicity in my body of work which is visually rejuvenating and harness the power of imagination. A painting that evokes an emotional response of satisfaction, appreciation, and Upliftment.

I purely depend on my imagination rather than being logical. It is imagination, I believe, that takes us somewhere. I have always believed that as human beings, our brain has an innate power to create, which through our years of maturity, ends up in bondage to our fixed mindsets. Imagination leads to an idea, and the very existence of an idea in your mind means that you have the capacity to turn it into reality.

You may find my work as a mere illusion, which is actually the catch, encouraging you to go deeper into it and experience the process of organizing your thoughts so that you may eventually find the whole interpretation process mentally entertaining. Entertaining your mind thus gives a relaxing feeling and engenders positive thinking, if not altogether sparking an idea.
